In New York on the 17th of May it was Harold Hunter Day Sponsored by Zoo York, New Era, 5Boro, KCDC, aNYthing amongst others. It was a day of remembrance and celebration to one of New York's finest skateboarders, actors and all round fun loving guy! It was an amazing turnout with music by DJ’s Neil Nice, Pete Rock, and the first man to ever ollie Love Park Vinny Ponte! The celebrations were something that would have been more than appreciated by the New Yorker with all his old friends and skateboarders such as Todd Jordan, Kevin Taylor, Chad Muska, The Gonz, Rodney Torres, Jeff Pang, Eli Reed, and Dave from DQM. Route One Rider Josh 'Man Head' Young is absolutely killin it at the moment! With a 1st light in this months sidewalk doing a half cab blunt 360 out in a nasty steep ditch, and a frontsideflip down a double set! HE'S A BEAST! He also had a full part in the Baghead Flats DVD I'm hearing "cheese and crackers style tranny skating!" and countless articles and trips with Vans, I'm sure he will be coming along to N.A.S.S. as well so keep your eyes peeled. Not that you could miss that head! Just have a look at his clean smooth style with this footage from the "Rock it Like a Hurricane" mini ramp comp held at ISPO Munich.
If you live in, or near Brighton, you'll be well aware of the state of the The Level skatepark. In much need of repair, the Level is a park steeped in legend, that has begun to show it's age, (just a little bit). With route one and DC rider Amir Williams killin it there frequently, check him out winning the level comp in the vid bellow! The Council have been stringing along skaters for years with the promise of a new park, but unsurprisingly have not come through with the goods. So hit up this link and sign the petition. Yes it's that time of year again get your boards and tents ready as N.A.S.S. is just round the corner, it's taking place on the 13th 14th and 15th of June at Bath and West showground. It's looking like it's going to be one hell of a weekend with music from Does It Offend You Yeah? Less Than Jake, The Subways, Adam F, Late Of The Pier AND A LIVE SET FROM PENDULUM!!! The parks are sounding better than ever, with the halls changing so the floor will be smoother, better lighting, a viewing balcony, and increased prize money so be sure to see some of Europe's best skateboarders killing it to be number 1! Don't forget to bring your boards as you will get the chance to use the pro course. There will also be a permanent public skate area set up in the hall where the street course used to be. So come on down and have an awesome weekend!
